I have been using electric razors for some years now, but was never pleased 100% with the end result. It was either skin irritation or a not-so-close shave as the one I was hoping for. Norelco razors were my favorites in the past, I felt my skin was the most comfortable with the rotary razor technology. This generation of razors from Philips are even better, in my opinion, than the previous generation.
The Philips Norelco 1290X delivers a shave that is close and comfortable, thanks to the heads which are flexible and follow the curves of your face. I haven’t experienced many shaves that were this close and this comfortable. And there was absolutely no razor burn. Philips recommends you clean the razor after every shave. Might seem too much work at first, but they designed this process to be so easy. You just have to pop open the heads and let warm water run over the blades for a few seconds.
I have to confess that the 45-day money back guarantee has convinced me to try this one out. Philips Norelco 1290X has proved itself to be be an excellent razor. It has a nice feel in the hand, with the rubberized back and balanced weight distribution. The display on the front is very useful, telling you how much shaving time you have left and other functions.
On the down side, you can’t use it to keep a stubble. You can only have a close shave with it, as it has no height adjustment. You could try the 1280X instead, or try a beard trimmer. Another thing that might be an inconvenience, depending on your lifestyle, is the fact that the battery lasts for 60 minutes, and if you travel for more than a month, you would have to take the base station with you because the charging cord doesn’t connect directly into the razor.
