There’s probably nothing else that can ruin your day like a poor shave in the morning. If you’re anything like me, then you know exactly how precious every morning minute is, so shaving has to be as smooth an experience as possible. Having sensitive skin, I always need to take special care not to end up with a skin irritation that can drag on for many hours, possibly spoiling my entire day. And with many shavers that I tested in the past, that’s an almost unavoidable scenario, especially as I get used to a new shaver. The new Philips Norelco Shaver 7300 for Sensitive Skin seems at first sight like a great solution for my problem, with its special finishes and advanced blade motions, providing an incredibly close shave without causing razor burn or any other type of skin irritation.

Features of the Philips Norelco Shaver 7300 – S7370
In this section, I present you the features of the new Philip Norelco Shaver 7300 for sensitive skin, as stated by the manufacturer. Further down the page, you can find my opinion about this shaver, organized by aspects that I think count when trying to decide whether to buy a certain electric shaver.
– Comfort Rings
Shaver 7300 has a unique microbead coating that reduces friction for 85% of men. This technology ensures the shaver glides effortlessly over your skin resulting in a smooth and comfortable shave with less irritation.
– DynamicFlex Technology
Shaving heads effortlessly move in 5 directions to comfortably follow every curve of your face and neck. This improved contouring helps catch hair, even in hard-to-reach areas.
– Gentle Precision Blades
The specially-designed Gentle precision blades comfortably cut hairs in the most optimal cutting position, thereby reducing irritation caused by tugging and pulling.
– LED Display
The LED display shows when the battery is low, when you need a new shaving head and when the travel lock is on. Travel lock prevents the product from turning on by accident.
– AquaTec Technology
AquaTec technology lets you shave whichever way you prefer. Enjoy a comfortable dry shave, or a refreshing wet shave with shaving gel or foam.
– SmartClean System
At the touch of a button, the SmartClean system keeps your shaver like new every day. With an alcohol-free, skin-friendly formula, the SmartClean system cleans hair, foam and gel through a unique dual-filtration system. The system also lubricates the shaver’s blades to reduce friction and keep your blades in top condition. After each cycle, the SmartClean system also thoroughly charges the shaver so it’s always ready to go.
– Deluxe Case
The shaver’s premium case has a sleek design to take up less space in your bag and its built-in ventilation chamber dries your shaver, even when you’re on the go.
My opinion about the Philips Norelco Shaver 7300 for Sensitive Skin
Putting all the marketing hype aside, there are certain aspects that need to be taken into account when choosing a product like an electric shaver. Going through the features list doesn’t always help you form a truthful opinion, because very often, some features are made up to sound like you’re buying a futuristic gadget. In my opinion, it’s enough to answer some specific questions to be able to make a well informed decision.
1. Shaving comfort
I don’t know about you, but for me one of the most important aspects of a shaving tool is the actual shaving experience. I have no problem with wet shaving and using safety razors or straight razors, as opposed to many men who choose electric shavers as their preferred shaving tool. For me, the main reason for having an electric shaver in my grooming arsenal is for the ease, speed and comfort of shaving, especially in those hectic weekday mornings, when every minute counts. Because I have sensitive skin, choosing the right electric shaver can make or break my day, so you can imagine how important shaving comfort is, for me. The Philips Norelco S7370 made quite the impression in this aspect. They say it’s specially designed for sensitive skin, and surprise, it really seems to be just that. Besides minor redness on some portions of the neck (which may be due to the first few usages) it feels really smooth and comfortable, even with a few days of beard growth. It’s also very quiet, when compared to your average electric razor.
2. Quality of shave
This aspect has 2 sub-aspects that need to be taken into account: closeness and efficiency. For all of you who ever used a safety or straight razor, know that it’s almost impossible for an electric shaver to reach the same level of closeness as a blade. I say almost impossible, because, as history showed us many times, nothing is impossible, it’s just a question of time. But give current levels of technology, you can’t
really match the same level of closeness. That said, you should know that the Philips Norelco Shaver 7300 does a really good job when compared to older generations of electric shavers. When you finish shaving your face will be as clean as it can get with a high quality electric shaver, and that’s very close. As far as efficiency is concerned, you will not have to pass many times over the same spot to get it clean shaven. You will have to insist on some portions of the neck though, but apart from that, you’ll be able to go through the entire shaving ritual very fast, which is something you want, especially in those weekday mornings.
Another important aspect when it comes to electric shavers is, according to my experience ergonomics. It really doesn’t matter how well it shaves if using it is uncomfortable. The 7300 Series scores really well in this aspect as well, with its almost aerodynamic body, comfortable grip and one button universal control. You really don’t need the instruction manual to get it out of the box and start using it. Changing the shaving head with the trimmer head is tricky in the beginning, because naturally, you’ll probably want to avoid breaking it. But as you interchange the heads a few times and gain some experience in this aspect, you’ll feel more confident.
4. Cleaning and maintenance
Cleaning the Philips Norelco S7370 can be easily done by removing the shaving heads cover to get out all
the hairs stored inside. You can either clean it manually or use the cleaning station, which will also charge your shaver. The included manual is very helpful in offering all the information needed. As far as charging is concerned, you can either use the cleaning station to charge your shaver, or the included charging cord. It will take about an hour to fully charge your shaver.
If you shave daily, you’ll have to replace the shaving head after a year. Don’t worry you won’t have to remember to do that, your shaver will let you know when it’s time. If you don’t shave daily, you can set your shaver to remind you about cleaning the shaving head after 2 or 3 years. You’ll also have to replace the cleaning liquid inside the cleaning station after about 3 months, if you use it frequently.
Besides the actual shaver, in the box you will find the so-called SmartClean system, the cleaning cartridge, the SmartClick precision trimmer, the power cord and the travel case. Another way of saying it, you get a complete facial hair grooming package.
The shaver comes with a 2-year warranty, which is called a full warranty. They say they will either repair or replace any parts of the shaver that’s defective, if not caused by misuse, abuse or accident. You also have the liberty to send your shaver back and get a full refund if you use it continuously for 3 weeks and are not happy with the product, if you send it back within 45 days of purchase.
- Fast, close, comfortable shave.
- Less irritation than previous Norelco Shavers.
- Wet or Dry shave capability.
- Easy to clean.
- Very good battery life. Charges in about an hour.
- Trimmer is a separate attachment.
Overall I must say the Philips Norelco Shaver 7300 for Sensitive Skin, Model S7370 is a great electric shaver. There are more expensive shavers out there, even from Philips Norelco, but looking at all the deciding factors for buying an electric shaver, and also taking value for money into account, this is a really good option, especially if you have sensitive skin.
